Dear Executives,

　Due to technology evolution, the convergence of broadcast, communication and internet, Television industry is facing migration from tradition broadcasting paradigm to “Hybrid Broadband Television” (HBBTV), which is fast becoming the dominant trend for next-generation Television. Under a variety of triple-play services in competition, the rise of intelligent terminals, terminal access to entertainment content at anytime anywhere, a new vision for the merge of TV broadcast technology and IP technology to HBBTV is expected, and it will be re-defining the business and operating models from image capture to screen display! The evolution basically swipes across the whole value chains. The developed countries in Europe, US, Japan, and Korea, etc are developing their own technology and applications.

　One of SMPTE Hong Kong Section’s missions is to promote and encourage information exchange on new technologies. We have organized seminars, conferences and educational trainings throughout the past years and is highly appreciated by the SMPTE headquarter. SMPTE Hong Kong has invited reputable speakers in above segment to share their forward looking knowledge and know-how supporting by case studies in Hong Kong, China and other part of the world in the upcoming Anniversary seminar –– “Future TV” on 11th November 2011 (Friday 14:00 - 18:00), so broadcast personnel of the industry can learn and be inspired by the sharing and knowledge exchange.

　On the same day, a one day Hong Kong SMPTE Expo (10:00-17:00) is being organized at HKDI d-mart. This Expo demonstrates the latest advance digital imaging camera system, LEDs lights, broadcast equipment, s3d equipment, digital intermediate(D.I) equipment, test and measurement equipment, optical zoom, computer graphic system, and content delivery system, etc..

　The Seminar & Expo are being held as part of the SMPTE Hong Kong Section’s anniversary event and organized with IVE and HKDI, co-organized by Tech-ex Dot Com Ltd, sponsored by ARRI Asia Ltd and Tata Communications International Pte Ltd.
